1. The Rose Show will be governed and judged by the rules, regulations, and guidelines of the American Rose Society, as set forth in the Guidelines for Judging Roses.
2. Exhibitors need not be members of any rose society.
3. All blooms in this show must have been grown in the exhibitor's outdoor private garden. Only one entry of the same variety will be allowed from the same garden in any one class unless otherwise stated. More than one entry of the same variety from the same garden in the same class will automatically disqualify all those entries.
4. ARS entry tags will be furnished by the Show Committee and must be filled out completely or disqualification will result. Separate entry tags identifying each cultivar are required for multiple container entries. Questions regarding the appropriate classes should be directed to Horticultural Classification. Containers will be furnished by the Show Committee except where otherwise specified. Bowls, palettes, and English boxes are available on a first-come, first served basis. All collections must be exhibited in the proper containers, as specified under the class number.
5. This is an alphabetical show. With the exception of Challenge Classes, each specimen will be entered alphabetically according to the first letter in the first name of the variety. Varieties having "climbing" as part of their class name must be entered in their respective bush type class. Only one entry, climbing or bush, is allowed for each variety or cultivar class. Only one entry will be permitted in each variety or cultivar class.
6. Wedges of clear plastic, and/or Styrofoam may be used to position specimens in a container provided that none of the material extends above the edges of the container. Use of unauthorized material will result in disqualification. Aluminum Foil MAY NOT be used as a wedge material.
7. Classification of roses will be in accordance with the latest edition of Modern Roses, Handbook for Selecting Roses, Combined Rose List or the New Rose Registrations in the American Rose. All roses must be exhibited under their ARS Exhibition Names, as listed in bold type in the ARS Handbook for Selecting Roses. A rose variety need not be registered with the ARS to be exhibited in this show, but must be listed in an ARS-recognized publication.
8. During placement, only the placement committee will be permitted in the show area, except for arrangement exhibitors and exhibitors entering special challenge classes in Section A, who will be permitted to place their own entries. Each such exhibitor must be accompanied by a member of the placement committee and must leave the show floor as soon as the exhibit is placed.
9. Horticultural Judges who are judging in this show may enter only in Section H, the Judges Classes 42a and 42b.
10. First, second, third and honorable mention ribbons will be awarded in classes on the basis of quality in the opinion of the judges. Only blue ribbon winners are eligible for awards. No award is required for any entry or class.
11. Exhibits, prizes and awards must remain intact until the close of the show. All specimen entries will become the property of the Show Committee and may not be removed without permission. However, the Show Committee reserves the right to remove any entry, which has become wilted or otherwise unattractive.
12. While the Society will take every precaution to safeguard containers and materials furnished by exhibitors, it cannot be held responsible in case of loss or damage. Containers, awards, ribbons and other property must be claimed on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
13. The preparation room will be open at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, 3 June 2001. Entries will be accepted from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. No entries will be accepted after 10:00 a.m. Albuquerque Garden Center phone: 296-6020
