Pacific Southwest District
of the American Rose Society

Southern California, Southern Nevada,
Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas

Welcome from the District Director

Robert B. Martin, Jr.Welcome to the gold medal award winning website of the Pacific Southwest District (PSWD) of the American Rose Society. The PSWD is the largest district in terms of membership in the American Rose Society, with over 10% of ARS members residing within our boundaries. Those boundaries include Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Las Vegas, Nevada and El Paso, Texas. Within this area the PSWD is home to 37 local rose societies that serve as a local place to learn more about roses and to share fellowship with rose lovers of kindred spirit.

Our website has been judged the best of the district websites and contains a wealth of information on growing roses in the Pacific Southwest, as well as information on rose-related events and local rose societies. It also contains a list of Consulting Rosarians who are ready to help you personally with your rose questions. Consulting Rosarians are pledged to inspire the love and appreciation of roses and are available to help you without charge or obligation.

You do not need to be a member of the American Rose Society to belong to a local rose society or to take advantage of our Consulting Rosarians. However, if you love roses, I strongly urge you to join the American Rose Society. The ARS publishes an outstanding monthly magazine, The American Rose, the annual Handbook for Selecting Roses, and has many other membership benefits and services. Go to the American Rose Society website at www.ars.org for more information.

I am proud of the accomplishments of our members within the district. They include Dr. Tommy Cairns, President of the World Federation of Rose Societies and the immediate Past-President of the ARS. They also include Steve Jones, Vice-President of the ARS. We also have many of the nation’s best authors and speakers on roses, the best rose exhibitors, important rose hybridizers, talented rose arrangers, and rose industry leaders. Our local society and district bulletins are often among the top award winners, and we have frequent seminars, judge's schools and Consulting Rosarian schools.

To learn more about roses and the happenings in the PSWD, I urge you to subscribe to our gold medal award winning district bulletin, The Pacific Southwest Rose. A subscription is only $10 a year for 4 issues.

If you have any questions about the PSWD, its local rose societies, or rose culture within the Pacific Southwest, please feel free to contact me directly by e-mail. I will be happy to help you.
